Christmas And Home Decor Made Simple

I understand Christmas can be a stressful time of year for so many people, so I thought I would share a few ideas to glide you through Christmas like Santa on his Sleigh.  As I’m sure you are aware, I’m a big fan of keeping a house clutter free to make those hero home décor pieces you love, shine like the Star of Bethlehem.  So, before you wipe the dust of the old Christmas Decorations and excitedly decide where to put them, I would recommend having a clear out.   Most of you will be thinking this probably isn’t the best time of year but in fact, Christmas is the perfect time to do it and will see you into the New Year with a clear and fresh outlook on your life.   There are so many benefits to decluttering and creating a cosy, tranquil nest for your family but it isn’t always the easiest of tasks with accumulating so many things over the years.  So to keep you motivated here are some of the benefits.

Benefits of a Decluttered Home

There are many studies that a messy home increases stress and anxiety so by removing this at Christmas time you are already well on the way to a smoother Christmas.  To start the feel good process put on a bit of Wham’s -Last Christmas and begin listing your unwanted items on eBay or donate them to a charity close to your heart.   You can also find charity banks at most major supermarkets if your looking for a quick turnaround.

Once you clear each room, you will find your mind calming like a Zen master meditating by a bonsai tree.  Your sleep will improve, stress levels will drop and productivity increase.  At this point you will be able to put your decorations and think about all the money you will save from keeping your home beautifully organised.

I always recommend online shopping to avoid the crowds and to retain the Zen like state after your declutter. Christmas for me is about simplicity and sharing as much time with your loved ones as you can and eating carefully selected delicious food… if you are going to ‘cheat’ make it worthwhile. Some of my favourite foods that hit the top of the Christmas list is cheese, baklava and plenty of wine.

I guess Christmas has a different meaning and feel for all of us.  We are all unique so regardless if your home is cluttered or organised, love is what binds us and time is something we are all running out of so make the most of this festive season whatever way you decide.  This leads me on to say thank you to all the people who have supported us in our first year of business and would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  My sister and I have had a lot of fun creating Wink&Beam and have met some wonderful, inspiring people on our journey so far.  We hope to see our community continue to grow in 2021 and can’t wait to unveil our plans.
